UPR Anthology Series' books presentation

The University of Puerto Rico Press presented the re-launching of the Personal Anthologies Series in January 2009, with the reissue of earlier volumes and the inclusion of new ones. The presentation took place at the UPR Museum of History, Anthropology and Art at the Rio Piedras Campus. Writers Sergio Ramírez, Rosario Ferré and Edgardo Rodríguez Julia, editor of the Personal Anthology series and manager of the academic journal La Torre, assisted to the event.

The collection, first published in 1990, has been one of the most prestigious from this publisher. Reprinted works include previous volumes by Puerto Rican writer, José Luis González, and Dominican writer, Juan Bosch. The new books contain personal anthologies from award winning Nicaraguan author Sergio Ramírez, and prestigious Puerto Rican writer Rosario Ferré.

Ramírez, former vice-president of Nicaragua under the Sandinista movement during the nineteen-eighties (1980's), includes memoirs, novella excerpts, political essays and short stories in his anthology. Ferré's compilation includes compositions from the three representative periods of her career, characterized by feminist issues and folkloric tales. Both works, as well as the rest of the series, consist of three-hundred pages of priceless literature selected by the authors.

Upcoming books in the series include selections by noted Latin American writers such as Alfredo Bryce Echenique, Ernesto Cardenal and Julio Ortega.
