EPA Educational Program Led By UPR Aguadilla

The U. S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) assigned $49,861 to the University of Puerto Rico at Aguadilla for an educational program to create awareness of marine debris impact in the area. The purpose of this program is to inform students, teachers and community members on how to dispose garbage and the effects of pollution in water bodies around the west shoreline. Students from the University of Puerto Rico at Aguadilla will also develop public service announcements and propaganda to promote these efforts in the community.

Participants in this project will be trained with the skills and knowledge necessary for safeguarding the coast surroundings, through educational workshops. Nineteen workshops are designed for kindergarten through 12th grade students and six for the general public.
